Sittingbourne vaccine centre still open for business
The vaccination centre in Sittingbourne which opened in April at the Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital is still open for appointments. Both adults and children can be vaccinated there and all stages of the Covid vaccination programme are offered.
Clinics are being held:
- Friday’s 8.30-5.30 - adults only.
- And Saturday - 9am to 5.30pm for 5-15 years olds.
Walk in slots may be available but please check times before you go.
Who can get a COVID-19 vaccine?
- Everyone who hasn’t had a 1st dose can get one.
- Everyone who has had a 1st dose more than 8 weeks ago, can now get a second vaccine
- Everyone who has had their 1st and 2nd dose can get a booster dose assuming 12 weeks has passed since their second dose.
- People over 75, living in older people care homes, or those with a weakened immune system can get a fourth jab if it’s been more than 12 weeks since their third.
What are children entitled to?
- All 5-18 year olds can get a 1st dose.
- All 5-18 year olds can get a 2nd dose if it’s at least 8 weeks since their first dose.
- All 16 and 17 year olds can get a booster dose if it’s been at least 12 weeks since their second dose. Some children aged 12-15 are also eligible.
- Children over 12 who have a severely weakened immune system will be eligible for a fourth dose if it’s at least 12 weeks after their third dose.
While vaccines do have some side effects, the benefit of getting vaccinated has been declared by the Chief Medical Officer as far outweighing the risks.
